Eighty female Wistar rats aged 100 days, weighted 170-175 g were randomly allocated to control, orally supplemented with drinking water, and three treated groups, orally supplemented with silymarin 200 mg/kg BW, EtBr 10 mg/kg BW, and combination of EtBr and silymarin (SEtBr), respectively. Each group was allocated to two subgroups, sacrificed after 20 and 40 days of treatment. Bodyweight gain, uteri, and ovaries weight were recorded. Ovarian samples were obtained for histopathological examination. EtBr group females recorded the lowest body weight gain, relative weights of ovaries and uteri, and ovarian follicle number, whereas S group females recorded the highest body weight gain and follicular number, while the ovaries and uteri weights were either higher or close to the control group, at both experimental periods. Histopathological findings of both periods revealed necrosis, cirrhosis, ischemia, and prominent hemorrhage in the blood capillaries in EtBr treated ovarian tissues, but many of the ovarian follicles being mature and the atretic follicles were hence found to be high in number, whereas silymarin treated females showed normal ovarian tissues and viable ovarian follicles as that in control females. The combination-treated females, at 20 days, revealed necrotic primary ovarian follicles with some macrophages infiltration, whereas 40 days’ period showed normal ovarian cortex, medulla, and ovarian follicles. In conclusion, silymarin treatment in combination with EtBr has a potent amelioration effect against ovarian toxicity, in a duration-dependent manner.}, keywords = {Ethidium Bromide,Silymarin,stress,Ovaries,Uteri}, title_ar = {التأثیر الوقائی للسیلیمارین على مبایض وأرحام إناث الجرذان المعاملة ببرومید الإیثیدیوم}, abstract_ar = {أجریت هذه الدراسة لتقییم فاعلیة السیلیمارین المحسنة ضد السمیة فی إناث الفئران المستحثة ببرومید الإیثیدیوم. تم توزیع 80 أنثى جرذ ناضجة بعمر 100 یوم ومعدل وزن 170-175 غم بشکل عشوائی إلى مجموعة سیطرة جرعت ماء الشرب، وثلاث مجموعات معاملة، جرعت الأولى معلق السیلیمارین بجرعة 200 ملغم/ کجم من وزن الجسم، وجرعت الثانیة محلول برومید الإیثیدیوم بجرعة 10 ملغم/ کغم من وزن الجسم، وجرعت الثالثة بمزیج برومید الإیثیدیوم والسیلیمارین. تم تقسیم کل مجموعة إلى مجموعتین ثانویتین، تمت التضحیة بها بعد 20 و 40 یوما من المعاملة. تم تسجیل معدل الکسب الوزنی وأوزان المبایض والأرحام. کما أخذت عینات من المباض والأرحام لدراسة التغیرات النسجیة المرضیة. سجلت المجموعة المعاملة ببرومید الایثیدیوم اقل زیادة فی وزن الجسم والأوزان النسبیة للمبیض والرحم وأعداد الجریبات المبیضیة بینما سجلت المجموعة المعاملة بالسیلیمارین اعلى زیادة لوزن الجسم وأعداد الجریبات المبیضیة فی حین کانت الإوزان النسبیة لمبایض وأرحام لمجموعة المعاملة بالاثنین معا أعلى أو قریبة من مجموعة السیطرة فی مرحلتی الدراسة. بین الفحص النسیجی تغیرات مرضیة فی نسیج المبیض لمجموعة تمثلت بالنزف والتنکس فی خلایا المبیض مع تشمع ونقص الأوکسجین بالإضافة إلى التحلل والتنکس الشدید ووصول عدد قلیل من الجریبات لمرحلة النضج مع وجود تحطم کامل لبعض الجریبات. بینما اظهر الفحص النسیجی لمقاطع المبیض من مجموعتی السیطرة والسیلیمارین نسیجا طبیعیا وعدم وجود نزف أو التهابات فی الجریبات المبیضیة، بینما أظهرت مجموعة فی مرحلة 20 یوما تنکسا فی بعض الجریبات الابتدائیة مع ارتشاح الخلایا البلعمیة فی حین أظهرت المبایض فی مرحلة 40 یوما قشرة ولبا طبیعیین. یستنتج من نتائج الدراسة الحالیة أن المعاملة بالسیلیمارین دورا وقائیا عند إعطائه مع برومید الإیثیدیوم فی تخفیف الآثار السمیة لمبایض وأرحام إناث الجرذان.}, keywords_ar = {}, url = {https://www.vetmedmosul.com/article_170050.html}, eprint = {https://www.vetmedmosul.com/article_170050_6cd973b1361d1d8223bd758b42d123d6.pdf} }
